Hand Made Products
On our small family farm, each season brings fresh products. Our harvest season runs from February through November. During the end of winter/beginning of spring we make maple syrup, later spring brings baby chicks to raise for meat and layer hens for eggs year round. We grow herbs and veggie gardens during the summer. Honey is harvested in the fall and turkeys for thanksgiving. Using our beeswax, I craft small batches of herbal salves, lip balms, face and body creams, and also make herbal tinctures/extracts, herbal oil infusions and tea blends. I’m adding new products all the time and can even custom craft herbal preparations as needed for the individual. Honey and Beeswax
We typically harvest our honey the first to second week of October. The bees were very generous in their honey making capabilities this year and we are thrilled with how phenomenal it turned out.Bees are known to travel 3-4 miles from their hive to find suitable sources of food. We provide as many flowers as possible for them so they don't need to travel very far. Our light golden honey is made from the pollen and nectar from trees, wildflowers and herbs growing on our land and include (but are not limited to) maple, apple, clover, calendula, lavender, echinacea, mint and goldenrod. We never use toxic/synthetic pesticides, herbicides or insecticides. Our honey is considered "beyond organic" and is bottled without warming it so the honey remains raw and the nutrients are preserved. Honey will keep for years at room temperature. Crystallization occurs naturally over time and honey can easily be brought back to a liquid state by warming the entire jar in a bowl of warm water. Never microwave honey as it will destroy the nutrients that are naturally found in honey. As of January 2019, we are now selling our honey products at Thorpe's Organic Family Farm Store!

Herbs
The beautiful, bright orange Calendula flowers used in my herbal preparations are hand picked weekly in the summer from both our home and Thorpes Organic Family Farm, which is located just up the road from us. Then I spread the flowers onto a screen for a few weeks to dry and store them in a lidded jar for later use in herbal salves, balms, teas, salads, soups and broths. Calendula is an edible herb and has many medicinal properties including vulnerary (wound healing), antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, and cleanses the lymphatic system. It is known as an aid for healing minor wounds, acne, rashes, stings, bites, chapped lips, dry, cracked skin, diaper rash, ulcers, fungal issues and internally as a tea it's helpful for treating gastrointestinal problems. Using our beeswax, I craft small batches of herbal salves, lip balms, face and body creams, and also make tinctures, herbal oil infusions and custom tea blends. I’m adding new products all the time and can even custom craft herbal preparations as needed for the individual.

Pasture Raised Poultry and Eggs
Our chickens are raised "beyond organic" and are fed Organic, Non-GMO feed.We raise 2 kinds of chickens; layer hens that lay eggs and broiler chickens that are raised specifically for meat. The layer hens live on average for about 4-5+ years. Along with being fed organic grain, they have a large fenced in pasture and forage on chemical/pesticide-free grass, bugs and kitchen scraps. The hens we raise lay eggs that are brown, beige, green and blue.
We raise 2 different kinds of meat birds; Freedom Ranger Heritage breed and Cornish Cross breed. Both are raised in our barn with organic feed and access to a large area outdoors where they have fresh air, sun, bugs and grass. The Cornish Cross breed is raised for 8 weeks and the Heritage breed are raised for 12 weeks. The differences between the two breeds besides the growing time is the Cornish have a larger breast and eat more grain than grass. The Heritage have larger legs and wings, smaller breast and forage on more grass. Once they reach the desired age/weight they are taken to HLW Acres in Attica to be processed. The different cuts we offer for chicken are whole, split, quartered, thighs and breasts. We have them vacuum sealed and ready for the freezer the same day they get processed.
Turkeys are raised much like the meat chickens, in our barn with organic feed, daytime access outdoors and allowed to roam freely in a large fenced area. They are raised for 15 weeks. Chicken and turkey orders can be made by calling 716-655-4127.
